Nervous patients
Anxious about the dentist? You’re in safe hands.
Dental nerves are incredibly common, and nothing to be embarrassed about. Our team will take things slowly, explain everything, and make sure you feel in control from start to finish.
How we help
Six small things that make a big difference
We listen first
Tell us what worries you. Past experiences, sounds, injections: nothing is silly, and it helps us help you.
You stay in control
We agree a stop signal before we start. Raise your hand and we stop. Simple as that.
We never rush
We explain each step before we do it and go at a pace that feels right for you.
The same friendly face
Ask to see the same dentist each time, so every visit feels more familiar.
Numbing done gently
We make sure the area is properly numb and you feel ready before treatment begins.
Small steps are fine
Your first visit can simply be a chat and a look. There’s no pressure to have treatment that day.
A minute of calm
Breathe along with us
Slow breathing is one of the simplest ways to calm your nervous system. Breathe in for four, hold for four, and out for six. Try it now, then again in our waiting room or in the chair.
- Breathe in for 4Through your nose as the circle grows.
- Hold for 4Let your shoulders drop.
- Breathe out for 6Slowly through your mouth as it shrinks.
Press start and breathe along with the circle.
I haven’t been to a dentist in years. Will you judge me?
Never. We see people who have stayed away for all sorts of reasons. We’re just glad you’ve come in, and we’ll focus on getting you comfortable and healthy.
Can I bring someone with me?
Of course. Many nervous patients find it helps to have a friend or family member with them. Just let us know when you book.
What if I need to stop during treatment?
We’ll agree a stop signal before we begin. Raise your hand at any time and we’ll pause straight away.
Can my first appointment just be a chat?
Yes. Your first visit can be a relaxed conversation and a gentle look, with no treatment unless you want it.
Take the first step, gently
Call us for a chat, or send a message and we’ll get back to you. There’s no pressure, ever.
